Recreational spaces in the capital are set to get a facelift with plans in motion for an AED 8.5 million rehabilitation project of children’s play areas.

Spearheaded by Abu Dhabi Municipality, the renovation effort will extend across the capital, with the first phase targeting playgrounds along the Corniche.

The Heritage, Lake, Formal and Family Parks will be the first to receive a modern upgrade, with new facilities designed to combine education with play and offer options for children of different age groups.

In addition to new play apparatus, the renovation works will also include new seating areas and walkways for families.

To improve safety, rubber paving in all locations will be replaced with new flooring, while lighting systems and gardens will also be maintained.

The project is expected to be completed by November this year.
