Welcome to
MIDDLE EAST SMART LANDSCAPE SUMMIT 2013
27-28 May 2013, Jumeirah at Etihad Towers,
Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates
Under the Patronage of
MUNICIPALITY OF ABU DHABI CITY
Under the patronage of Municipality of Abu Dhabi City, Middle East Smart Landscape Summit will take place in Abu Dhabi on 27-28 May 2013.
With the population in the Middle East continuing to expand at a rapid pace and the construction sector recovering quickly from the effects of the GFC, the landscape industry has enormous growth potential.
Current landscaping projects in the GCC have an estimated value of US$55 billion, and over the next 20 years the planned spend on theme parks and other major projects in the Middle East is US$3 trillion, creating monumental demand for landscaping products and services.
A new landscape and greenery law which is to be implemented in the UAE stipulates that all developers must incorporate at least 25% of ‘green space’ or ‘landscaped area’ in plans for commercial, residential and leisure projects. By 2025 the vision of Dubai Municipality is to have a quarter of its emirate covered in green and to have one million trees planted by 2014. The Municipality of Abu Dhabi City has prepared a plan to improve the surrounds of 212 mosques in the region, and landscaping will be critical in major developments such as Saadiyat Island, Al Raha, and Al Maryah.
